so this is what davis and i are giving to our friends, neighbors, and co-workers this year for Christmas.....my spin on the classic 'mix-in-a-jar' gift:
Hot Cinnamon Milk mix.....Aretha Franklin style! :)
Seriously. What's not to love about a sweet fabric-bow adorned jar?
These are super easy to make and you can even use your scraps to make them.
Supplies- fabric
- scissors
- and that trusty sewing machine!
- TEMPLATE {Click to view the bow template. Print on 1 sheet of paper. Pattern should be approx 10.5 inches long by 2 inches wide.}
for each bow, cut 4 pattern pieces using the template.
take 2 pieces and with right sides together sew together using 1/2" inseam. leave small end open.
*leave the small end of the pattern open so you can turn it right side out later*
when sewing around the curved portion of the fabric, go slowly so you can get a nice rounded seam.
next, make small cuts into the fabric about 1/4" apart around the curved portion. DO NOT cut the thread!
REPEAT above steps with the remaining 2 pattern pieces.
using a dowel or blunt scissors, turn right side out and iron flat.
take one side and tuck in the unfinished seam about 1/4"
insert the raw edges of the other side into the opening.
so that it looks like this.
sew shut.
then fold over that same seam....
and sew across it.
And that's it! This template works with all regular mouth glass jars.just add a gift tag and your jar is ready to go!
