Cute little decorationsDescription I first made these out of card to use as little gift bags, then figured they could be done with felt and stuffed.Instructions - 1First make your pattern, it's a simple shape as you can see from the picture.
Place the pattern so that the short straight edge is on a fold, and cut out.
You'll need one for each colour.
- 2Make two cuts up each of the shapes, they should be evenly spaced and about the width of the pattern.
- 3Now for the weaving part.
Take the left arm of the white one and put it through the right arm of the red.*
Aww they look like little octopods holding hands:)*Obviously substitute with whatever colours you're using, I'm using red and white to make it clearer from the pictures.
- 4Now take the centre arm of the red one and put it through the left arm of the white.
- 5Now the left arm of the white one goes through the left arm of the red one.
Normally when weaving you go under over, with this you go through and around.
- 6The centre arm of the white one now goes around the right arm of the red, through the centre and around the left arm. So you're going the opposite way to the first arm.
- 7The right arm of the white one follows the same path as the left one did ie., through the red's right arm, around the centre one and through the right one.
- 8Now if all goes according to plan, you should be able to open her up like so
<---
This is how they can be used as little gift bags:)
Now just stuff and sew around the top.
Don't over stuff or you'll have to sew all the woven bits together (yep, I did).
Add your loop of ribbon to the top and stitch in.
